Missoula Neighborhoods: A Local Guide to the City We Serve

A quick look at the neighborhoods that make up Missoula, and what makes each one a little different.

A City of Distinct Pockets

Missoula isn’t one uniform city, it’s a collection of neighborhoods that grew up around the rivers, the university, and the surrounding hills, each with its own character and housing mix. Understanding the layout helps explain why homes across town can have such different carpet and cleaning needs.

Neighborhoods We’re In Regularly

Rattlesnake

A wooded neighborhood north of downtown, named for Rattlesnake Creek, known for its trailheads and a mix of older homes and newer builds tucked into the hillside.

University District

Home to the University of Montana campus and the rental housing built up around it, with a rhythm shaped by the academic calendar.

Orchard Homes

A residential area west of downtown that grew out of the valley’s old orchard land, now mostly single-family homes on larger lots than you’ll find closer to the city center.

Grant Creek

A newer area on Missoula’s north side, popular for its mix of family homes and easier highway access heading toward Evaro and the Flathead Valley.

And a Few More

South Hills

Sitting up on the ridge south of downtown, with some of the best valley views in the city and a mix of established and newer homes.

Southgate & Reserve Street Corridor

Missoula’s main retail and commercial strip, home to a lot of the offices, shops, and businesses on our commercial-cleaning side.

Why This Matters for Carpet Cleaning

Older neighborhoods like Rattlesnake and parts of downtown tend to have homes with carpet installed decades ago, sometimes over original hardwood, while newer builds in Grant Creek or South Hills often have carpet that’s a single owner old. See our Residential Carpet Cleaning page for how we approach homes of different ages, or our Commercial Carpet Cleaning page if you’re in one of the retail or office corridors.
