Our Carpet Cleaning Process

From first call to follow-up check — every step of how we clean carpets, rugs, and upholstery in Missoula, MT.

Step 1 — Phone Consultation

Every job starts with a quick call. We ask what’s going on, what kind of carpet, rug, or furniture is involved, and how soon you need it done. This gives us what we need to give you a realistic price range before we ever step on-site.

Step 2 — On-Site Inspection

Before any cleaning solution touches anything, we check the material, existing condition, and any problem spots. This includes a colorfastness test on a hidden area, confirming the fabric or fiber won’t bleed or fade.

Step 3 — Method Selection

Not every job calls for the same method. We choose based on the material, the soil level, and how fast the space needs to be usable again:

  • Hot Water Extraction — our standard method for wall-to-wall carpet. See our Carpet Cleaning page.
  • Low-Moisture (VLM) Cleaning — used mainly for commercial spaces that can’t afford long downtime. See our Commercial Carpet Cleaning page.
  • Submersion Wash — used for area rugs, especially wool, silk, and antique pieces. See our Rug Cleaning page.
  • Fabric-Matched Methods — furniture gets a method matched to the fabric. See our Upholstery Cleaning page.

Step 4 — Cleaning & Treatment

Pretreatment on high-traffic and heavily soiled areas, followed by the selected cleaning method, with targeted spot treatment for anything that needs extra attention.

Step 5 — Drying & Final Walkthrough

High-velocity air movers speed up drying, and we walk the space with you before considering the job done. On water-damage and deep-cleaning jobs, we confirm with a moisture meter rather than relying on how the surface looks or feels.

Step 6 — Follow-Up Check

A few days after the job, we check in to confirm everything looks and smells the way it should, especially for pet odor and stain jobs where results can take a day or two to fully show. If something’s not right, we’ll come back and address it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you use different methods for different jobs instead of one universal process?

Because using the wrong method for a material can cause real damage, like hot water on delicate wool, or a method that doesn’t fully extract moisture on carpet that then grows mold.

Do you really call to check in after the job is done?

Yes, especially for pet odor and stain treatments, since results sometimes take a day or two to fully confirm.

Are your methods safe for kids and pets?

Yes, we offer eco-friendly and standard product options for every method.

Do you guarantee your work?

If something isn’t right after a cleaning, we’ll come back and address it.
